Start menu?

Maybe I'm completely wrong, but I thought I saw a picture somewhere of a windows 7 desktop where the start menu was this huge orb in the middle of the screen with icons around it.
Is this just a piece of my imagination, or can this be done?
It looked sick and I want to set my desktop up like that if possible.
Please explain how to do this, or link me to somewhere that tells me.
