Hi

I recently bought a dell latitude E6410 laptop running windows 7 ultimate,
A few days ago it started playing up, at first I thought I had a virus of some sort as my protection had run out, so I downloaded another protection plan and ran a test which came back clean. then a message came up up from windows saying that I needed to install a "P2P driver" and do a upgrade. So I downloaded the driver and did the upgrade which seemed to work. The next day I started up and it went straight to the start up repair, which came back saying my system cant be repaired automaticly. I can get as far as the system recovery options. I tried a "system restore" and that didn't work, and a "windows memory diagnostic" and still nothing. I havnt done a back up disc or have any other discs so I'm pretty much stuck in a loop now. Iv been looking into the "system image recovery" but have no idea what that means or what to do. If any one has any info that could help me, that would be awesome. I'm have very limited computer skills which doesn't help the situation. So any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers

James

What was the driver name and where did you download it from (URL)?
What is your new anti-virus program? Is it a free one? Did you do a full scan of your C: drive?
Did you check for rootkits/malware? Might want to get the free version of malwarebytes and install and run that (Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download).
Try checking your system files for corruption using the sfc /scannow command from your command prompt running as administrator.

If you run out of ideas, you can use your Restore Partition, which is your D: drive I am guessing, to restore your PC to how it was when you purchased it. This link guides you through the process. How to Manually Access a Dell Restore Partition | Tech Tips - Salon.com

Where did you buy this computer and was it new? How long have you had it?
The reason I ask is because of possible warranty and Ultimate on that laptop.
