Only your AntiVirus program has to be in the startups. All others can be disabled. Press Start > type msconfig > hit Enter > go to the Startup button. There you can disable all that junk. And don't be afraid - nothing bad will happen.

Or if all else is hard or confusing, you can just get CCleaner and use that to disable what you don't want. It's free and works great, Google it if you wish to try it out.

I agree with CCleaner it's easier than typing msconfig, just go into startup programs and delete all the ones you don't want

another good program is winpatrol it allows you to pick what starts up also free. it has a paid version that tell you what the services that are running is for and it is not very expencive.

also I would not use msconfig because you can cause a lot of problems with your operating systems with just
one wrong click or crash it completly

If all you want to do is disable some apps from running at startup, msconfig is built in and does what you need. You'll know from the path and description what each app is, and if it is needed or not. No guide is going to help with this, because each system is unique.

+1 for that. That's what I use - also to set delayed startups.
