My windows 7 is stuck in start-up repair screen for hours, and won't load up, what is the problem?

I have a dell inspiron 15r. I bought it last year, and now it won't start up, it's stuck in this blue screen.

Windows 7 came with my computer, is there anything I can do to save my files. , or are they lost forever? (i hope not)

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Do you have an external hard drive connected?

If so, try disconnecting it as it may have been marked as active and that could confuse Windows when you're trying to carry out a startup repair.

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode first, and then trying the startup repair?

A possible fix here:
