Have a dell vostro running windows 7 pro. Cant get the system to start. When i turn the machine on the dell logo pops for a second, the cursor blinks a couple times and then it takes me to the welcome screen and the screen goes black and then comes up as an active screen but still blank. Mouse cursor is still active.

Run Dell Diagnostics at boot by tapping the F12 key to choose it. If it fails download and burn to CD or write to flash stick to run it: Dell DIagnostics downoad

Then work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot which try everything that can be done to start Win7 leading up to if necessary rescuiing files and running Recovery or clean reinstall.
