Its seems like you may have a corrupted OS.

Can you try to boot into safe mode? (F8)

Factory Recovery is the worst possible install of Win7 one can have, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7. Better to do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Boot the Win7 installation media provided via DVD or flash stick as shown in tutorial, be sure to delete all partitions during the booted install. Then if you will stick with the steps in that tutorial you will get and keep a perfect install for as long as you do.

If you insist on the grossly inferior Factory Recovery then you'll need to try to start it over by booting via the Hotkey as shown in Gateway Support - Full Factory Recovery.
If that fails you'll need to boot and run the Recovery Disks if you made them, or order them from Gateway. But you'll be paying for the worst install of Win7 possible, when we can help you get a perfect install for free.
