Its a company computer that is used 24 hours a day. It has major security so the bios is passworded by the IT guy. No matter what he wont change the bios to boot from anything but hdd or network. He would like to fr me but scared he'd get canned if it gets stolen and someone got into it and got some company info. Can't blame the tech. I need to boot from usb once in a while to run some linux progs or other programs that need to run before and without windows. Is there command line or some way I can boot a prog on usb on reboot from win7. That way I get my stuff done and he keeps his job. Even a Hirens or a UBCD is Linux n other great progs needs to be started before windows. I fix cell phones as a hobby N my 7 daughters keeps me working and I sometimes do need to get out of windows. I Am trying to start usb progs from windows on the reboot without having to tamper with the bios at all. Cant anyways, lol. Thinking a command line or something from windows before reboot.Any Ideals would be appreciated.

Sorry, but we cannot help with evading the security measures set in place by your company. Booting from unauthorized media could have serious security implications.

For one I'm rebooting and also I'm not opening or changing any security in bios or anywhere. Im not booting any unauthorized media. IT guy suggested command line to do it on reboot but i don't know how. I can do what I like with this computer except when not in my care It must have security. Who are you to decide if I can run linux or anything for that matter.

It's nothing personal and nobodies trying to be a smart @ss. Even if what you say is true, we have no way of verifying it. Plus, if somebody did steal a PC and wanted help cheating it, they aren't going to actually say they stole it are they? They are going to make up some sort plausible excuse to bypass the security. We can't take the chance. The modes would delete the posted info anyway. Booting from a Linux live distro could give you access to stuff the IT guy doesn't want accessed, like other users personal files etc. Also, if he could get fired for bypassing the security so could you. How bad do you want to keep your job? Is it going to be worth it if your caught?

You could buy an inexpensive refurbished pc for under $300 and since it is your own personal computer you could do what ever you want with it. You could run a linux live cd or even full out install Linux on it as the primary OS.
