Startup Done Sound

My computer takes awhile to finish starting due to many startup items I have implemented. I would like a sound to play when it is all done and 'ready to go'. Is this do-able and how?

Not to my knowledge. You would be smarter to remove all unneeded programs from the start up. As well adding a small 128gb ssd drive for os and software only would rock your world with the start up, program open and close as well as shut down times.

I boot my PC, log in, sip my coffee and wait for the hard drive light to stop flashing,. which takes about 90 seconds.

I know of no way to get the sound where you request it to be.
Don't give up we have a lot of members and some may know how to do what you are asking.

Seldom does one need a lot of programs to start with Windows 7 and run in the background.
It's really not a problem if they don't start with Windows 7; they will start after Windows 7 has loaded as soon as you tick on them.
When you tick on them they open and run as normal. When you close them they not only close but they don't run in the background when not being used.

The use of a ssd for Windows 7 and your programs will put a smile on your face and joy in your heart.

There is no sound option for what you want. You or someone would have to create a program that would somehow run at the end of the startup and give you the audio alert.

What you want is difficult even from a theoretical standpoint. Windows doesn't provide the option to play a sound when all startup programs have completed because it has no way of knowing when this has occurred.

The basic problem is that modern operating systems use the demand load principle. Applications do not completely load their code and then start to run. Instead code and data are loaded as needed.

A third party program could attempt to guess when all startup programs have completed loading (however that may be defined) by determining when disk usage has dropped below some threshold for a specified period of time. I don't know of any such program.

Thank you all for some very educational (for me) replies. I was unaware of the complexity of what I assumed was simple. My startup items are quite small and simple, a few gadgets, a calendar, a tiny drive led indicator graphic (cpu drive light is out-of-view), just small stuff really but enough. Back in the mid-80's I had a small Mac that played Hal 9000's "I am completely operational and all my circuits ..." when the device was done turning on.

I am now of the understanding that my initial question should be re-worded. Perhaps there is a way to make the sound into a startup item and force it to be the last item started?
