I've got a user that everytime they boot their machine, every fan in the chassy spins very fast(thus loud). Right after posting the fans start to slow down, and become stable about the time windows loads.

Specifications:
SuperMicro® intel® Tylersburg 5500/5520 C.S. X8DAi Serverboard
2x Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® E5630 2.53GHz-12MB Shared L3
CoolerMaster 1200W Silent Pro Gold
nVidia, Quadro FX 2000

Any ideas? :sarc:

I was about to post a thread about the same thing.
Mine only happens for 5-8sec then it's smooth.
When I turn it off for 5-8 hours and turn it on, i don't hear it.

Check the bios settings, some have an 'active' setting that sets the fan to 100% on startup and sometimes close also.

If it's not in the BIOS, this may just be the normal behavior of the machine. I have an Nvidia 9800GTX+ that spins the fan loud during boot and it's not until the Windows system boots and the Nvidia driver initializes that the fan quiet's down. It's actually annoying enough that I have considered on multiple occasions of switching over to a Radeon 5850 as they are much quieter...and consume less power.

My GTX+ never spun like that, same with this user machine's chassy fans, it started after replacing the PSU I think.
