Here is the story, a computer got a virus, and was beyond repair, So we went for a clean format. The computer was for some reason unable to boot from the windows disk, or any disk for that matter. So i hooked up the hard drive to another motherboard, and installed windows 7 from there. And hooked it back up to the original, thinking it would modify the configuration files with the startup repair. However startup repair is unable to find any issues, and i cannot get into windows at this time. Any help would be greatly appriciated.:sarc:

Sometimes a HD will start Win7 if you move it to another computer, after swapping out all its drivers.

With XP you would run Repair Install from booted CD, but Win7 runs Repair from desktop so that is out.

If you want to make sure if it will start, boot back into DVD repair console, click through to startup repair and run up to 3 separate times with reboot.

The times I've not been able to get a HD to run Win7 after installing in another machine is if the two mobo's CPUs had a different number of cores.

well, ive been through the process multiple times... and with no sucess whatsoever.

Well, maybe first things first. Disconnect the hard drive and see if it will boot to the DVD.....

If not, you may have had more than a virus...
