Solved Startup repair loop, cannot acess Sysrem Restore settings

I am having this issue with my Thinkpad X220 where suddenly it went to Startup Repair, it sucseeds, but after it asks me to restart my computer, it boots back to Startup repair and the process repeats again. I tried to boot into System Recovery menu pressing F8 at startup, but even after pressing F8 it still goes back to Startup repair. I need the the best way to fix this but not lose data, because my data is very important. It happened after a small drop on the floor. Please help?

after running startup repair, do you get a menu that looks like this?

No, it just says it is reparing, and it says it suceeds repairing, and it restars. I am actually trying tobget to that options
menu, but after pressing F8 on startup, it still goes to startup repair.

when you are pressing f8, do you press it repeatedly as soon as the computer turns on? or just once?

No I press it repeatedly.

i take it you dont have the windows 7 dvd....

Startup Repair Diagnosis and repair details:

Root cause found:
Boot manager failed to find OS loader.

Repair action: File repair

Repair action : Boot cofiguration data store repair

Repair action System restore
Result Completed successfully. Error code 0x0

It says that I have a D drive, but I dont have one. The directory of Windows is in C drive. Also I heard that System Restore won't work in these cases. Dont know what to do now. Help please?

P.S Holding F8 did not work and I dont have a Windows 7 DVD

I would read this thread. You may have damaged your hard drive, but you will need a recovery disk to find out if you can fix this or not. Hope your hard drive isn't making clicking sounds

Fixed it last week. Borrowed a friends Windows 7 disc, went into system recovery menu, opened Command Promt, deleted and rebuild BCD and doing that fixed my computer without losing any data. Thank you for the support though FaberTech!
