Hello,i don't know is this right section for this but today i went back to home(my pc was turned on all the time) but it was off then.. So, i turned it on again and when it loads Windows it gives me a Startup error and it don't let me do anything. Why that happened? I have no installation cd cause when i purchased my laptop(HP G62) it had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit pre-installed. I have Ubuntu Linux on dual boot so i'm writing from it now. Please help, i need my windows back cause there are some really needed files for my school :(

I have all stuff right at BIOS setup, i would do system recovery but it won't let me. When i choose System recovery it just keeps loading my Windows 7 and gives me that error! Please help.

I can't take my laptop back to shop cause i purchased it in UK and now i'm living at Latvia.

I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong section and tittle isn't good enough.

Also, please don't give me those threads about Startup repair using installation CD cause i don't have one like I said. I tried all i can and I still didn't find the solution

What happens when trying to start windows? Please give exact error message
Second question: do you have a linux bootmanger like grub or lilo or just the standard windows7 bootmanager?

"startup repair" will for sure remove grub mbr so you cannot start linux afterwards! are you smart enough to fix that? If you have windows7 bootmanager I wanna know that. Then I know some tricks

OK, if you can boot into Ubuntu, then do that, open a terminal, and enter "sudo update-grub".

This will regenerate the GRUB menu. When you then reboot, you should see a GRUB menu that provides different boot selections.

If all else fails, you should be able to access your Windows files from Ubuntu and copy them to an USB stick or external HD.
