your complaining at a 4 hour wait!? that download would take me about 40hours+

the game has installed of the DVD's but its the pre and post release patches that your being made to download. These fix A LOT of the bugs in rage.. and there were a lot.

I brought this point up in an earlier post as my download spead varies from 35kbpsto 280kbps (so your 1.4Mbps is rather impressive now...).

You can download a cracked torrented version of the game, as you own the original version. But without the patches youll be complaining regardless

And my last question:I have tried this method also:
First i shut down Steam and then:
Hit Windows+R key
And write:"C:\program files(x86)\Steam\Steam.exe -install D:"
It starts forced(?)install from DVD disc.So it start install, but then there is
error message:The Steam servers are too busy.... (look pic steam error)
Should i try that forced install offline mode?any other working methods?
And i really dont understand that server error :haha:
PS i found that forced install stuff from Steam forum.
thank you

Depending on steam servers i guess

It probally won't take 4 hours ,I had a download that needed 14.6 gb download but steam actually finished it faster then posted

I been use-ing steam for a few years now and never had issues with downlodable content

But look at it this way it is now backed up in the steam files and if you ever need to re-install just have steam redownload it and you won't have to go through install disc like you did before

Also steam could have did it for you with-out the disc but probally would have taken a big chunk of time

Buying the Disc is good but even though it is a pain in the Butt for the DLC

Steam saves your profiles on there data base so when you re build or re install windows just download steam reinstall and your account is right back but you have to download the files again but it shouldn't take as long vs the first time

Not sure if this was mentioned or not but just because you have the physical disks does not mean you'll bypass say Steam for example. I have the physical disks for Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Fear 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution to name a few, in addition to the original Steam game - Half-Life 2, and they all had to be downloaded.

Get used to it being done this way as it's just one way to try and combat piracy. And yeah, Steam does have its plusses as stated by Solarstarshines.

Good Point Sygnus.... Someone was bound to back me up

Besides the downloading speed i noticed alot of the complaints are coming from the UK region you might want to test your isp and see if it is really up to par ,I use a Cable connection so suffering from low DL speeds is not a issue if you are on Broadband you are sort of limited with speeds depending on what package was purchased when you had the Internet provided

Yeah its all about your internet speed. steam can be troublesome once in a while but too much that it becomes annoying and unusable. only thing that got pissed was the fact that steam didnt back up my skyrim save files. i was pretty sure it was being kept in the cloud.

Like I said...DSL crap speed here from my ISP (125kb/s). I'm not spending 2 days downloading a game, when I could instead just get it from the store and spend 25-45 minutes. Downloading a game that's 2 gigs takes me 8-10 hours, and that's at an average of 100kb/s. Downloading a 1 gig file takes me 3-4 hours. I'll pass on Steam.

Edit: And "anti-piracy" doesn't really work in the first place. Forcing people to use their program isn't something I like, nor will I even have anything to do with it. It doesn't endear me to Steam at all, nor any company that does this with their own anti-piracy views (mainly EA). Anti-piracy is just badly implemented by a lot of companies. If they don't want people "cracking" their game, then they need to do a different approach. If the company don't like it, tough diddly, live with it.

Edit2: Sorry if my post may seem like I'm throwing monkey crap at you Syg, but I'm not, it's just the way I speak.
