Hello, since yesterday I am getting this (Steam error -105) error and it says " Unable to connect to server. Server may be offline or you may not be connected to the internet." That error shows for every tab I click (market, profile etc.), and alos I cant even access the steam website or the forums. I can play online but I cannot trade.

Here's what I've tried.

  • Restarting Steam/pc

Ok, so I am at this part, "Then, launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut," but when I click Steam.exe it says, " Steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection settings and try again."

Also, I cannot access any website related to steam.

Try right clicking it and run as administrator. Also make sure your firewall isn't blocking it.

I would uninstall steam, then re install. Make sure you back up your games first. Since you already tried disabling avast with no help it sounds like your steam install is corrupted.

Tried it with Firefox and Chrome and also tried in private browsing. I am using Chrome right now.

EDIT: restarting router did not fix.

I tried IE, but no luck. I uninstalled avast and installed MSE; same problem.

There is no restore point on the 15th, therefore I cannot restore.

EDIT: Never mind found it.

No. But I think it might have to do something with my router because I can access steam website via LTE/4G.

Before we go fiddling with the router, let's make something perfectly clear:

Do you have administrative access and permissions to the router itself? If this is a router you personally own then this is a moot point, but we don't want you to get into trouble if this router is owned by (for example) your parents and you don't have permission to mess with it.

Also, to test if this a problem related to the router at all, let's see if we can isolate the problem:
A. Can you access the Steam website from any other computer(s) connected to the router in question?
B. Are you able to temporarily connect your computer to your internet connection directly without the router? If yes, can you access Steam's website without the router between you and the internet?

I have admin access and permission to the router. I don't own the router but I can change the settings.

A: No, I cannot access the steam website from any other computer.

B: No.

EDIT: The router is dual band, and for some reason I am not seeing the 5Ghz connection even though it is enabled in the settings.
