Steam - error code 54

[Ermm]

So i recently downloaded Dungeon siege III and well.. Every time i click on play game. This error appears "dungeon siege III failed to start (error code 54). I've tried the methods suggested on most forums saying delete the ClientRegistry.blob and that 'should' fix it, but it hasn't and it's getting quite annoying. Can someone help me out a bit here please?

Have you tried opening steam, right clicking on the game & selecting 'properties\local files\verify integrity..........'?

Okay, so i right clicked and found properties, but where is this verify integrity?
I'm sorry if it sounds simple, but i'm new to this software and i don't really know a great deal about computers either.

Do it from within Steam. Go to the library & find the game. Right click\properties brings up this:

Then go to the tab across the top.

The only problem is that the game itself is not actually in steam. I only have a shortcut to the game in steam.

Okay so i've messed around with it a bit now and well, now when i click play, no errors appear.. In fact nothing happens.. at all.
