It replaces the built-in floppy.

I read it can be used externally too, but needs some other piece for that. Haven't looked in to it much yet.

Yes, it does work and works beautifully, not a single disk corrupted. 25 years old. I had the part to connect it to regular TVs since I never got a monitor for it (called A520). Also outputs to RCA video signal. I connected video output to a scart plug and getting beautiful image from my LED TV too :cool:

If you get it on steam you get access to the workshop where you can get mods. They are easy to install and there is loads of guides on which ones you should install. They do lots of things like better textures to new weapons.
