Hello,

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows 7 Stater intstalled.

I have been digging around, and found that Sticky Notes weren't included!

I have a Windows 7 Ultimate and Pro machine, would it be OK if I copied C:\Windows\system32\StikyNot.exe from the Pro machine to C:\Windows\system32 on the Starter machine?

Thanks,
techhead287

Don't bother with that one, if you have a 32bit you can try it,

I pulled this one out of a 32bit Home Premium, but I can't get it to work on Starter.

Feel free to give it a try if you want.

Hey derekimo,

I just copied StikyNot.exe from the Pro machine to the Starter one. I ran it, and it did nothing. I didn't even see a process in Task Manager.

Apart from using a 7 Pro virtual machine on the netbook (which I tried and it is really slow), is there anything I could do to get the file to work? Like, modify or patch it or something?

Thanks,
techhead287

Hello Techhead,

If you like, you might give the free program Stickies a try to see how you like it instead. It's much better than the default Sticky Notes in Windows. :)

Win 7 Pro doesn't run any slower on a netbook than Win 7 Starter so instead of using a virtual machine, why don't you simply install Pro on the netbook instead of Starter? We have a couple of Acer Aspire One netbbooks in our family running Win 7 Pro. I bumped the memory up to the max of 1.5G and performance is good.
