Unwrapped my brand new, factory sealed card today and noticed the bottom was slightly sticky. There was this weird sticky residue on the bottom of my brand new card. AGGGGHHH! I read somewhere online that this may be a result of resin soldering? I don't know. One little goop concentration was around a soldering point. Any ideas? It's not like a runny goop it's just a residue. It's not loose.

I cleaned off as much of it as I could with alcohol.

The residue from the flux in electrical solder can be very sticky. Normally, on high end computer gear, its cleaned off after all the soldering is finished. Other than collecting dust it won't hurt anything to leave it there. You just don't want it getting on the edge connector and messing up the contacts. Alcohol would be my choice for removing it.
