Stll getting WXP updates

Probably wrong forum.
However, a friend who has a computer with WXP OS still gets updates from............. This in spite of MICROSOFT stopping support on WXP in April.
I suspect a number of software companies to take advantage of the WXP situation. I alsosuspect that one can determione who is sending updates witrh the correct instructions. I am versed in W7 only, so, am unable to help. can somebody provide the instructions to determine the author of these updates.

MS have stopped creating new Updates for XP - but Windows Updates will still provide any existing updates for machines which may be missing them for any reason (such as a reinstall).

As far as I am aware, Windows Update still actually works for Windows 98!

MS did issue an XP update for the recent IE security issue, but that was said to be an exception.
