MS doesn't "provide" the drivers - they reposit the drivers provided by the manufacturers. The reposited driver does not fail on all systems. In your case, it seems, you a system not capable of 64-bit.

Considering Ive run vista 64 on it for the last 8 months Im pretty sure my system can run 64 bit just fine.

I *think* this is the stop code I sometimes get and it's related to my attempts to overclock just a little bit more.

Just to let you know Toshiba released a bunch of new drivers for this computer 9/2/09. Unfortunately still getting the BSOD. Any other brave soldier want to give it a try? I also download the 30 or so windows 7 updates that are available between the two the drivers and the updates I got the same thing BSOD about every other reboot.

Update update!!! Just went back and there are more drivers from 9/4/09

edit: No change same thing BSOD on reboot. Man I'm glad I have a windows home server to restore this computer.

Yikes to mighty, I'm a MUv4 Updates Beta tester and I do not have a total of 20 Honest Win7 Updates, that is including Office 14.
WinDefender has the most... updates.

could you post a snap of your "Win 7 updates". Strange.

All the reference's to your stop error is related to "OVERCLOCKING" & OR
3rd party programs using -controlling part of the CPU functions. (sample: AMDs cool&quite, ) another is your HDD is starting to fail. last is revert the BIOS back to default. (stop tweaking it), the let MS do a complete DSKCHK. defrag your HDD, an restore all Drivers back to (WDDM)or default installed by clean install.
Other wise you are killing your system be loading some items which confuse the hell out of it ...

Thanks for the input. Its not overclocked its a laptop. I'm not saying the cpu isn't stepping itself but I am not overclocking it. HDD could be failing but works fine in Vista x64, Windows 7 x86. S.M.A.R.T. has not detected any errors in the drive. Theirs nothing to tweak in the BIOS I wish there was cause I would tweak some stuff off to see if I could get windows 7 x64 to work. It BSODs with and without installing anything, with default drivers and with the drivers posted by Toshiba, all have the same end result BSOD. Also all I have to do is install 7 x64 log in for the first time, reboot and BAM BSOD. I haven't installed anything, removed anything, nothing just install and reboot.

The updates were on this site, somewhere i will post if i find them. They have not been released through windows update yet.

Apparently your system is NOT X64 compatible.

Why thank you, and yes you are correct about your computer supporting X64 (the processor is x64 anyways).

I'm still going through the pages while eating my meat lovers pizza but have you checked for any BIOS updates? This sounds more motherboard related then anything else.

If you could, also try using a different hard drive?

I suspect the BIOS there isn't an update for it yet. I haven't tried a hard drive, I don't have an extra SATA drive except for the one in the PS3. It could be the drive.

I suspect the BIOS there isn't an update for it yet. I haven't tried a hard drive, I don't have an extra SATA drive except for the one in the PS3. It could be the drive.

If theres one thing I learned in my entire life, when it comes to computers.. is to never rule something out unless you've thoroughly checked it.

Have you contacted your manufacture about a BIOS update and if ones coming soon? I contacted HP recently about my USB issue and they stated they'd be releasing a BIOS update to patch that, as well as fix a few other issues.

Well I have seen it many times before here in the last 10 months. Sometimes install works best with NO more than 2gb memory for the first install on win7.

I see you have 4gb memory. Can you take 2gb out & try install again. :huh:

Just adding a note to that, I have to do that when installing OpenSolaris. :| Seems to be an issue over both Windows and Linux (certain kernels).

I have a post on the TOSHIBA site I am mp_ccs over there. I have tried upgrading all it does it take longer to get the BSOD in other words same thing. At first I thought maybe it was the memory I did run a memory test but I have not tried it with 2gb. It seems everyone with this laptop has the same issue. Also I originally started this thread back when 7 was just a baby. I have aslo tried the drivers Toshiba has posted for this laptop for windows 7. No luck. I have contacted Toshiba they will provide this machine with windows 7 support but they said probably not until November.

I will try it with 2gb, it takes about a hour to restore the system from the server so its not too bad.

Do not expect too much help for support on that issue. They'd likely end up saying "you'll have to live with Vista for now".

But hey, at least your manufacture didn't threaten to void your warranty for installing the RTM version of windows 7. (yes, mine did lol)

You want me to modify the config to log and check and set to diagnostic start up? May only get one shot cause most of the time after I reboot I can't get back into the OS. I do have a Bart PE disk so I can get to the log files.
