Hello all, i hope you can help. I have a self build PC which has suddenly taken to having Stop errors. The machine is a dual boot with Win 7 64bit pro as its auto boot but there is also an XP pro set up too. The XP pro works fine (32bit).
I have been getting occasional restarts of the system for a little will until yesterday when I got a BSOD which resulted in the Win 7 not being bootable at all.

I decided to do a fresh install of win7, and all appeared to go well untill this evening, win 7 was installed, It had updated with approx 60 updates, I had installed the asus Mobo drivers, epson 360 drivers canoscan 44oo drivers when it crashed with a stop error;
stop:0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF880009A90F8, 0xFFFFF880009A8950)
Since then I have not been able to boot into win 7 at all, though the XP still works fine!
I tried to find the dump ile from within xp but it is zero kb. I have no idea where to start so wondered if anyone would be so kind as to help me.... please?:cry:

Hi Photographica and welcome

We really need the actual DMP file to analyze your problem correctly. Please follow these instructions to find and upload it to us.

If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Start your own thread in the appropriate section of the forum and attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
* Briefly describe the problem history and circumstances in the same post. Somebody will attend to your query as soon as possible.

Let us know if you need further assistance

Jan

Unfortunately the size of that file indicated it is way too small to be a dmp file. What is the size of the original file before zipping?

Mindump and update

Hi Jan,
It was o kb, obviously faulty. I have since run windows memory diagnostic but shows not error. When using the recovery options start up repair tool I got this message today - Instruction at 0x779d1a0 referenced memory at 0x31ad4b78. The memory could not be read.
Then when system tried to reboot I got irql_not_less_or_equal... Stop:0x0000000A (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001,0xFFFFF80000c0c4bf0). Checked to see if new minidump and sadly no.

Your system control panel may not be set up to create a dmp file, or it may just be crashing so hard it cant write the memory. Cpanel should be configured like the enclosed snip

The Bugcheck 0A is

The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

Problem - cannot change behaviour

Hello again, thank you for your patient help so far. My problem is i cannot get into windows to change the behaviour in control panel.

I didn't know if this might be faulty memory? The xp is only 32 bit so would not access most of the ram? Might be a blind alley though?

I cannot even run system start up repair either, not sure where to go next?

I found out my ram had two different brands with different timings so have replaced some ensuring all idendical. I then did clean reinstall. been fine for several days, now getting problems again. Managed to get some dump files this time...
Also had one crash in XP which is on a different partition. Help would be very much appreciated with this, i am scratching my head.
