Hi
I'd like to make it so windows explorer (not IE, I'm talking about the file browser) doesn't show suggestions when entering locations in the address bar. For example, when entering C: in the address bar, all the most recent locations are listed (for convenience I guess). Let's just say that this convenience could become a big inconvenience...lol ;)

cheers

Hi, I spent ages looking for an answer to this but I simply can't find one (mainly because Google seams to think Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer are the same thing).

However I have found a possible work around.
The following thread details how to clear Windows Explorer history http://www.sevenforums.com/performa...r-windows-explorer-history-windows-7-how.html , it recommends using CCleaner available from CCleaner - Home
Hope this is of use.

There must be a way to permanently disable this, I will keep looking.

CCleaner is great and I have suggested its use many times, but do not think it is good if used continually. It does affect registry and is powerful, be careful.

Thanks very much for trying to help :)

Here is an alternative method, but it, too involes the registry. Back up registry and make restore point before trying

Clear Explorer Search History in Windows 7

Cool, I don't mind fiddling with the registry (after all I manage my own CLI based Linux server :geek:). Also I do have CCleaner installed, and noticed its capability of deleting the explorer history soon after I posted this, but I'm looking for a way of making it so it doesn't remember it in the first place.

Thanks guys :D
