I see small lines on my monitor, usually present where dark color shades are. The lines are usually a lighter shade where the dark color shade is and I'm puzzled as to what the cause is.
I doubt it being the monitor since these colors don't appear everywhere, only at a select few areas.
Messing around with color settings doesn't do anything either, after posting this I'll be logging off and will re-install my video drivers in the morning, this topic is backup methods you all may know in case the video driver reinstall doesn't help. Attached is a cropped image of my desktop in which I hope the lines can be seen by everyone else.

Are you talking about those vertical lines that are angled? I mean, the ones that look like "god rays", like when the sun's rays are coming through clouds.

No, not those lines, you got to view the picture from a angle slightly above mid-monitor. There are vertical lines that appear in specific color shades of my desktop. When I reinstalled my Nvidia drivers, the lines were gone when they were uninstalled. Once the drivers were reinstalled the lines came back oddly enough which puzzles me further. That narrows it to the drivers, but they are supposed to make the card work correctly.
I did a clean reinstall of the drivers when I reinstalled them, so I don't see the point or trying again unless I may of missed something important.

The monitor is connected via HDMI cable, I disconnected/reconnected the cable before booting up earlier, I know HDMI cables are the not the best at staying in place.

You could try an older version of the drivers and see if that helps.

I had to go back to 306.23 WQHL jut to fix the problem which I find utterly disappointing on many levels. I'll be reinstalling the newest ones again, if they have the same issue I'll stick with 306.23 for a bit.

Oh. I can't see any lines like that. The screenshot is not capturing it.
