Strange Battery issue...looks Windows 7's Acpi

Hi there, since this morning i don't have anymore the icone & power management for my battery. The battery works fine when i unplug and let it for an hour, charging when plugin back.

I looked everywhere and all seems correct. In Device Manager i uninstalled the Battery drivers, then rebooted and all reinstalled correctly.

When i pulled out the battery while wired powered at put it back still not recognized.

I know it is still a fresh battery, but no power management for it!!!!! Just the No icone and No indications at all, about how much is it in use.

My "Acer Bloatwares" Power Management works, keyboard light is working aswell, so not an issue from their apps.

PS: I've run the Cmd "powercfg -energy -output %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\Energy_Report.html", and it tells i've no issues in general when set on "Normal Power Plan" (recommended) & at least it recognize capacity of it ( i've use it a little10 minutes ago before doing the powercfg, so it remain less than what it is).

Almost forgot to say i ran Sfc /Scannow already! I'm on Laptop Acer...

Sounds to me like a call needs to be made to Acer about this judging on how many responses you have received.

Sounds to me like a call needs to be made to Acer about this judging on how many responses you have received.

Thanks Bill2, i'm browsing that page!

Inside my Gpedit.msc all is Normal, registry keys Policies/Explorer have no such dwords, and cleared the icon stream!

PS: Forgot to mention that nothing appears in the Events Viewer....The battery drain normal & charge when wired.

SOLVED Thread...

After inquiring in my device manager i remembered i did a little cleaning with NPE (Norton Power Eraser), chasing a rootkit. The Symantec driver .sys was blocking the battery fonctionality.

So,
-Loaded NPE again to Stop the service.
-Uninstalled the Symantec App in Device Manager
-Deleted The driver in System32/drivers
-Deleted the registry Key
-Then Rebooted.....

Back to a fine Battery!

No didn't run the MBAM because i've got another AV installed...

NPE fixed the rootkit but though the integrated OS Windows 7 battery fonction was there to mess around...

Runned/Scanned NPE at Boot for rootkit, then it ran in the background the time to scan the system, I couldn't see any action of NPE. Gotta loading it again to stop the scan...

PS: Acer "Bloatwares" Power Management were not at shame, this time.

Just a bit of friendly advice. NPE's really a last resort cleaner since it uses aggressive logic and throws up "suspects" on which the user has to then take a call. This can result in accidents like yours. MBAM is an excellent tool and I would recommend to use it everytime you suspect malware. The free version is an on-demand scanner so you can use it conveniently even when you have a resident AV, it wont interfere.

I've already used MBAM one time few months ago...but this week needed something very agressive to clean around as i didn't knew what i was looking for exactly, all my full AV scan Mc Afee & Windows Defender didn't found anything suspect. I knew only something was wrong.
