Hello everybody, this is my first post here.

I have an issue with myt VAIO battery.
Before creating this topic i've made some search on the forum. I did find some similar topic but I can't resolve mine.

That's why I'm opening a new topic!

First, my laptop is a SONY VAIO VGN-Z590
I've installed the Sony VAIO Utilities which contain :

  • Battery Checker
  • VAIO® Control Center
  • Setting Utility Series
  • VAIO Event Service
  • VAIO Power Management
But still, here is the issue I'm having :

I've tried to reinstall this utility but still doesnt work...

Does someone have any idea how can I fix this?
I'm leaving tommorow in vacation, so I need to know if I have to reinstall vista or not!

Thx for helping me!

PS : My battery works like a charm on vista...

Utilities are not compatible with Win7.

If there are no updates for it on Sony's site, better go back to Vista, or live with the annoyance of no utilities. (uninstall)

Hello Ken,

Thx for the reply.

What do you mean by "power cfg"?
I'll check it on bios, but is there another way to check the power cfg in windows ?

Cheers!

You run powercfg by doing this in Windows:
Go to Start and type in 'cmd' (without the quotes) and press enter
Type in 'powercfg /?' (without the quotes) in the command promt window

What squonksc said and also

You can see the capacity of your battery by doing the following
Open a Administrator command prompt and type

powercfg -energy -output c:\energy-report.html

let it run then open the energy-report.html report. Look for a section called Battery:Battery Information near the bottom.
It shows Design Capacity and Last Full Charge which gives you an idea of how worn the battery is. Also check the errors section for anything about the battery.

Mine shows Design Capacity 63360 (which is 14.4v * 4400 mAH for my battery)
Last Full Charge is 59450

Hey!

Thx again for every reply!

Like I said, I had to go on holidays and needed my laptop to work, so I decided to restore vista.

When I come back, I'll reinstall win7 with the battery etc...

If someone found a way to correct this, pls don't hesitate to post your feedback ;D

Cheers!

I'm having the same problem as you now.

I have called sony and enquired about the release date of the drivers for Windows 7 for Sony Vaio. They said that Windows 7 was luanched recently and they do not have the drivers for Windows 7 on the net yet. I'm still waiting for the drivers for Windows 7. If i am not mistaken, they told me that it will be the drivers will be out in the midst of november. I need those drivers badly!!! If i am not wrong, it is a particular driver that cause this to happen.

I followed his advice and went on MSCONFIG to disable the two services (actually I disabled all the Sony services I found unnecessary) and MY BATTERY WORKS AGAIN!!! Good luuuuuuuck!

Found this interesting, I have a Sony Vaio PCG-7113M (Vista) and it needs a new battery. I don't currently have windows 7 installed but have purchased it ready. When I went to order a new battery, several sites I checked said battery not compatible with windows 7!!
So what do I do, sell on windows 7 and get a new battery, or just keep the laptop plugged in and install windows 7!!
