Strange characters on this HP Pavilion DV3 Laptop keyboard

Hi guys
I have just purchased this broken HP Pavilion DV3 Laptop for resale


Sorted out the problem and then installed Win 7 Pro


But as you will see in the supplied image the characters on the keyboard are English and . . . . .


Looking them I think that they could be Arabic or Hebrew or maybe something else.


I'm more inclined to think Arabic.


Also the keyboard layout is not the same, i.e.


The @ symbol is not middle right but above number 2


The \ slash is not lower left but upper right above the enter key.


There are others but you understand my drift.


Going into control panel etc. etc. does not alter it whatsoever.


When I installed the O.S I set it to United Kingdom etc. etc. as normal but it still didn't change.


Anybody any ideas ?

The characters are not generated on the keyboard.
When you press a key, the keyboard send a position code that it's translated by Windows into a character by the keyboard software type installed.
In other words, any physical keyboard can work as English, Arabic, Hebrew etc depending the character page it loads.
You should buy a keyboard with English (UK) layout to replace the one that came with the laptop.
