Strange clicking noise coming out of speaker

Hello

I have strange clicking or cracking sound intermittently. It look like a static interference noise (but it is not a static interference) This is worst when I'm listening to a video on Youtube.


Clicking or static could be hear, even when the video as stopped. Look like the system can't keep up

I played with the sound mixer. I got many applications running at the same time that sent me sound indicators

The clicking sound is lowered when I lowered the sound on the : "Sound System", leaving the others on the max level. When clicking or static do occurs, I could clearly see on the System Sound level bar, the increase or the movement that occured in the "System Sound" application

This is clearly an electronic or drivers problem, not a speaker or physical one

Hope I'm clear enough on my approximative English

Cracking sounds you described could be generated by signal interference, oscillating electronic circuit, or even any loose end of connectors/plugs.
Since you're sure it isn't about your sound system, I try to help you making some guess.

• Make sure there is no inducting device too near to your machine (fan, motorized device)
• Observe your sound input cable and both side connectors/plug, are they all intact, and well fitted.
• If you plugged it in on front audio panel, unplug it, and try to plug it in on rear audio panel

No more guess can be made here, but hope it could give you something.

Definitively, this is not a mechanical problem since Windows sound level meter do catch it. If it was caused by an interference, Windows would not had catch it since it would be produce outside, or after the connection

Problem as started after a re-installation of Windows 7. So I suspect that a driver is in cause here. The noise sound, could be diminished or cancelled if I turn off the System Sound option. In that case, I won't hear the mouse click or Windows opening sound, but would be able to listen music.

My board is Asus P5B with Windows 7 64 pro. I suspect that Windows as installed a generic sound driver that may cause the problem. I just don't know how to test and solve the problem

Did reload the Asus sound Driver.. SoundMax

Problem greatly reduce and sound is "listenable". I could still hear some noise, but that's ok for me for the moment

I can see that. Sorry for not getting all your words. Well, maybe you already did the right thing. Or you can choose less annoying sound scheme on sound option.

This is not an interference caused by an external source in anyway. But it is similar as it was one. As mentioned, Windows 7 is causing it as I could clearly see it in the System Sound level tool. Whenever the glitch happen, I could see the system sound level increased momentarily. Putting down or closing down the system sound level, the noise disappeared, but I could hear all the other sound from others sources. If it was cause by an external device, sound coming from any source would be affected

If the sound was caused by an external source like a cell phone, a bad connection or any noisy electromagnetic installation or device, Windows would not displayed it in the System Sound Level Tool because it would be caused after the main board connection.

This is a driver problem. I'm 100% sure. Easy said, I just can't source the exact problem.
