So I have all my systems to tell me if there are updates, but that I get to chose which ones to install. But in the past month something strange has happened to one system and I have not seen this.

I was wondering why the computer had none of the recent Nov. updates advising me. Dug around and found out they were installed; all of them on 11-13-2012. So I check and my setting in the updates area has changed to "auto install". So I asked my wife if she changed it and she said no, but that she has also seen the windows desktop theme also change. I went and looked and only one picture (of the the theme) is selected and the rest are not. So I selected all the pictures and it works again. But I reboot and it goes back to one picture. So something was up so I started looking at the past history of updates.

Now all the Nov. updates had a 11-13-2012 date of install. All previous updates had their own date they were installed like 10-12-2012 and 9-10-2012. etc.

So I started to uninstall all the updates that I want hidden for now. But then after a few reboots after some uninstalls, the dates for the 11-13-2012 installs all changed to 11-15-2012. As I kept uninstalling, my previous installs now ALL show 10-21-2012 install dates?

So as it stands my system looks like this
* NET Framework 4.0 and Office 2010 have install dates of 11-15-2012
* All Windows updates are ALL dated 10-21-2012
* C++ versions and SilverLight have their correct install dates (I have a log of all updates and their dates)

I also noticed that Office 2010 had an update entered twice in the control panel in the update area. KB2553260 was installed twice and successfully, so i uninstalled both.

So I am wondering what is going on, something seems to be centered around settings because not only the update setting was changed, but even the desktop background and who knows what else. Any suggestions on what is going on here and maybe any methods to see if this can be resolved?

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Office 2010 64-bit

I also have another computer with the exact same parts and software. So far, running through each Microsoft updates they both match, except for the ones I have uninstalled.

So I installed that update KB2553260 and see what it does. It makes two entries. All my other systems only have a single entry when this update was installed.

Any reason or solution to fix this? And please no "if you are not experiencing problems then let it go" answers. Thanks

With the Office update having two entries, should I uninstall it and then do something is the "softwaredistribution" folder to fix this?

And any idea on the date changes?
