When I open a video file with WMP, I get this strange message (see picture). Despite the message, the video plays correctly though. This message does not occur with the WMC or VLC.

The message comes regardless from which HDD or SSD I play the video. So it cannot be a disk driver problem. My Display adaptor driver and my Monitor driver (HP w2207h) are on the latest level. And there are no yellow triangles with any other device in Device Manager.

I don't know where to look any more. Any suggestions?

PS: "Web Help" is useless.

Try updating the hard drive controller and the sound card drivers.

The icon on the message points to a device that has been set up to sync with WMP, for example, a portable media player. Do you have (or have you had) something like that attached to your system?

Teerex, Thanks. That was the problem. There was a USB stick attached. I have never set it up for sync, but the WMP seems to assume that by default. After removing the stick, the message does not occur any more.
