Strange error message

I bought a piece of software that required me to go to the companies website and download a "validation" file. The problem is every time I open up the file to validate it I get:

"The operating system denied access to the specified file"

I'm running in administrator mode, does anyone have suggestions on how to get around this? thanks

What is administrator mode?

Disable UAC, reboot, validate the software, re-enable UAC, reboot

or

Enable the hidden Administrator account, login as Administrator and validate the software.

Check if the file is blocked. Right click/properties and look in the bottom right corner for it.

A. Run the program as an administrator.
B. Take ownership of the files.

It could be that any AntiVirus software you are running is blocking the file. Are you trying to 'Run' the file from download or are you 'Saving' to a location then trying to run?
