Strange Gadget behaviour

Just yesterday I upgraded from Vista 64 to Seven 64.
I performed an OS upgrade (clean install being the best approach I know, but I don't have time currently to rebuild my system from scratch).
Everything seems to work fine saving gadgets; only the RSS one is acting in the right way, all the others show some strange behaviour.
1 - The clock gadget, for example, does not allow to change the clock type, even if I select a different one in the options menu.
2 - The currency gadget hangs while connecting to the server and does not display any results
3 - The weather forecast gadget only display a big and yellow sun without info on temperatures and location

In addition it is impossible to save gadget position (for any gadget); upon system restart the only visible gadget on screen is the RSS one

Any idea on how to solve / enable the right behaviour ?

You might want to check where the gadgets are. if they were saved to a different folder the strange behavior could be the result.
they should be in shell:gadget if in another folder permissions might be wrong (read only) hence not saving position.

Thx for the quick reply: I have just checked the folder permissions in the gadget dir; read-only but, no matter what changes I made when I close the property window if I reopen they revert back to read-only

I have just found a solution. Here the steps I followed:

1 - I've noticed that, if I activare a new user account, everything works fine w.r.t. gadgets so it's an issue related to my particular account (i.e. the one i had in the previous Vista Home premium installation and i migrated with in Vista 7)

2 - Therefore, I deleted my setting.ini file in the Windows Sidebar directory under \User\<USER NAME>\AppData\Local\Microsoft and replaced it with the one from the new user account created in step1 (as a preliminary step I have also killed the sidebar.exe process)

3 - I have run again sidebar.exe and pufffff !!!! All gadegts works flawlessy now !

Hope that this could help anyone sharing the same problem

As far as I have found out, if you disable User-Account-Control (UAC)...
- you will have issues with your gadgets!

So having it on the lowest option, or disabled totally will mess your gadgets up.

I don't know if this is the case here, but it's worth giving it a shot :)
