It a close friend, I have been in remote and ran chkdsk several times and keeps coming up with errors.

I thing EasyRE might fix it, will make sure he backs up any data first, he is 3 states away.

oh yeah, the PC will boot if it messes with it a bit, he does and F8 and somehow how it boots.

What errors does your friend's computer have that make you believe you need to fix the computer?

The message you have displayed is not a normal message; it is being caused by some program that you or your friend have run to try to fix the problems. What program are you running when this message is displayed?

we are not going to try anything because it will boot.

I noticed HP has a BIOS update, his version is pretty old.

just wanted to share this goofy MBR error. I thought it was funny.

how would we be running a program when the PC is stuck at an MBR error?

bottom line is he can get it to boot, for now, so no EasyRE etc.

It's not an MBR error. As Jim pointed out, the "error" is in the diagnostic program you're using. IOW, you need a more up to date diagnostic utility, because the one you're using is outdated and deficient. There is no problem with your MBR.

I'm not saying your friend's Windows installation may not be having problems, but we don't have enough information to evaluate that either way. The only thing we're saying is whatever may be going on, it is not an MBR issue.
