Strange network problem

Hi,


This is about a friend's computer and a strange networking problem.

It's running Windows 7 Starter x86.


He told me that whenever he connected his PC to the home network through a network cable it would hang up. That's all I knew.
I took it home and connected it to my network through wi-fi and also through cable (separately) and both times it hung up with BSOD IRQL not less or equal.

Anyway, I fixed it. Or that's what I believed.
I could use it with my network through wi-fi or cable and worked just fine. Also tried it on a friend's home network.

I gave back the PC to my friend and he said that the problem still persists.
He lives in the countryside, like 45 km. (30 miles) away from my city so that's why going to his house is my last option.
He also states that other PCs work just fine in that network.


So, any ideas what I could try?

Hi,

It sounds like it might be a problem with the network card driver. Perhaps he could uninstall and reinstall it?

If he experiences more BSOD, use this so we can look at the files in detail:

Thanks for replying.
I checked that the network cards (cabled and wi-fi) drivers were updated. I did the remove/reboot thing so they would be recognized again
This is the only BSOD that pops up.

And it is only at his place with this particular computer. I'm using it right now at work and works just fine, and I use it at home and works fine too.


I know it's really strange. But even if I went down there to his house I wouldn't know what to check. It's a regular home network. An ADSL modem connected to a broadband router and that's it, like I have at home.

Please follow the instructions mentioned above and then attach the dump files found. The dump files made will better tell us if this is a hardware or a settings issue. Upon posting of the dump files I will request a BSOD analyst to review it

Thanks a lot for replying.
Here's the log.
I'm guessing it has dates on it. So, just so you know, he gave me his PC on June 18th and I gave it back to him on the 20th. Up until June 18th it had the BSOD errors according to my friend. That day he gave it to me and I saw the error at home and I fixed it -or I think I did-. After that it had BSOD at his place, and yesterday he gave it back to me and it's been working fine.

There doesn't appear to be any dump files, well at least, Minidumps which have been saved.

Check within this directory:

Thanks again for replying.
I did check before that it was set up to write memory dumps. I followed all the instructions.

The problem is that I'm a bit slow today, for that I apologize. Didn't want to waste your time.
Yesterday I ran ccleaner and cleared any logs. Big mistake. So there won't be any.

Guess I should wait for him to take it home and have a BSOD so I can check the logs later? Because, honestly, it's working just fine with me now.

In case it is needed, I ran the System Specs tool. Now my profile is filled with the info of the computer causing the issue.

Thanks for filling out your system specifications, ensure it's set to Minidump, and then don't run CCleaner otherwise it will delete all the logs and saved Minidump files. You'll have to wait until it crashes again for a Minidump to be saved.

I'll just give it back to my friend and explain to him how to save the minidump file and send it to me so I can post it.
