Strange noises from my speakers

Sorry if this is a repeat thread,

The last 2 days i have had what sounds like thunder coming through my speakers. This is happening even with speakers muted.

Ive checked my hardware and it all seems fine from what i can see, It is a labtec 5.1 powered from the sub.

Any idea what could be causing this as its getting worse and very annoying.

Check all connections in the speaker system. A dirty/poor connection in the speaker system is one possible source, since it is happening with the PC muted.
