Strange RAM problem

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. It has been running great until today when it wouldn't boot. The Repair Disc wouldn't run and I thought that a BIOS flash I had done had gone wrong. I eventually did get it to boot but it wouldn't fully load. I decided to try removing RAM. I have 4gb in two slots. After removing one of them Windows booted fine. To check the RAM I took the second one out and replaced the first one, again Windows booted OK. I tried them both together again and I was back to Windows not loading. Any ideas please.

check bios for max memory, and max cpu. if they are there uncheck them.

when you solve this you might want to fill in your system specs (lowerleft corner of your posts) so we know what hardware you have

Ken, I think he is in the wrong FORUM... his specs says OS=XP.

Update:- I tried everything, but Windows 7 would not boot with both modules of RAM installed, although continued to boot fine with only one module installed. In the end I flashed the BIOS back to an older version and it fixed the problem. I am now running normally with both modules installed.

Related problem with RAM

I have 12 gb of RAM, and with no applications running, it consumes 1.47gb from the very beginning? Does anybody have an idea of why so much? Thanks,

I have strange RAM problems too.
I had originally 4gig of DDR3 128x8 PC1333 2G AUM 2809 whatever that means.
The computer wouldn't start at all with the 2 modules in. The fans turned and then stopped and started again with the MOBO lights coming on and off. This repeated ad infinitum, no boot up screen.
I removed one module and it started up OK.
Either module alone, worked fine.
I bought 2 more to give me 8 gig, put them in and .... it wouldn't start, same again.
I put 2 modules in and lo and behold... it started, 3 modules... OK.... all 4 modules and away it went... for 2 weeks and then Windows 7 wouldn't start and kept trying to repair itself... which it couldn't.
I removed the ram, leaving only one module in and it all worked fine again, 2 gig of ram, one module.
I bought a Corsair XMS3 6gb pack and no way will the computer start with any combination of the 3 modules, not even one on its own.
It will only work with one( any one ) of the original 2 gb modules.
I am now bald from having torn out my hair and at a complete loss as to what to do next.
Anyone help ?

Addendum to my last message;
I updated the BIOS using the Gigabyte @Bios software.
I now have 4 gig of RAM, amazing.
The original module in 1 and a Corsair module in slot 2.
No other arrangement works.
Fantastic !
Anyone want to buy 10gig of DDR3 cheap ?
