Hey all,
I don't know does this subject belongs here but I have to ask.
When I want to open my videos folder from my documents my lap top makes a strange sound which is not stopping until the lap top shuts down. It won't stop when I mute it. The sound is really loud like a siren which doesn't stop. Any idea what it is and what should I do?
Thanks

Well Megan, (I'm assuming that's your name)

I just want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly as I've never heard (lol) this happen before.

It is when you open your Videos folder that this sound happens? Opening any other folder doesn't cause problems?

Is the sound coming out of your speakers, directly?

Does muting your sound (through windows, not sound controls on your laptop) help at all?

I really don't know does opening any other folder makes that sound. I shut it down after it happen, removed the battery and the charger. Then after a while I turn it on it started the recovery mode and then when it finished the sound started again.
The muting doesn't help in any way. I tried first to mute it when it happen and I tried every possible way to mute it but it didn't work so I just shut i down...

If your laptop is new enough, consider consulting the manufacturer for repair. If the sound returns the moment you start up windows, it may be a bad ground or a short in either the sound card, the sound controls on the laptop, or the wiring to/from the soundcard to the speakers (especially if "muting" doesn't help).
