Solved Strange Tags or Snipetts

I am getting these weird looking snippets using Firefox does anyone know what they are or how to get rid of them?

In that case it seem to be a compatibility view issue or document mode issue,
Unfortunately I know nothing about these options in Firefox,
Internet explorer I would use the F12 key and switch manually to test,
I'll also assume this is only happening in Firefox and you've tested with another browser,
I'm pretty sure even in Internet explorer Yahoo.com might need to be added to the compatibility view list,
Gear symbol/ Comp-view settings.

It also happens on Palemoon 64 Bit but that is a Firefox clone. In IE 9 it does not occur. I can't seem to find any info on this. It even happens with all extensions disabled.

Gary I have tried it with Pale Moon and IE10 on my My Yahoo page and don't see them. They look like image placeholders, but I have none in those places.

Have you run a battery of security/malware scans? I'm thinking if you recently installed something it's some sort of a toolbar, maybe.

Seems firefox.. just aren't rendering the headers properly,
I wouldn't expect a virus but just a cache problem,
I'm not sure how to do this in Firefox though,

It is interesting,
Any time I've seen anything like that it was in windows 8,
Meaning the little squares indicate other options are there,
Have you Uninstalled Firefox ?

I just did remove Fx and tried My Yahoo without any extensions and the strange tabs were then turn into arrow like objects. I have nothing as far as CSS in Yahoo or anywhere else about these arrows. I may just have to live with it as All I use Yahoo for is email.

I would say the down arrow would be a normal view,
I see them as down arrows also in ie10,
But the header shows many other listings and the down arrow is on the far right end of the header,
As long as you haven't added any add blockers....
Also try Firefox in safe mode to rule out Avast,

I turned Avast Off and it did not help

I would doubt turning off avast would make any difference,
You can't simply turn off a antivirus there are various features which do not simply turn off otherwise they would not offer a uninstall utility
Run Firefox in safe mode.
