When I turn on the computer, I notice a non-Administrator user account with a strange name is created. I go into Control panel and delete the account, plus the folder that was created. Soon afterwards, I notice that the account is re-created. I keep deleting the account but it continually reappears.

I have ESET security and ran a full scan, but it did not find any malware. I also installed MalwareBytes, ran a full scan and it found nothing. Then I ran Window Defender, which failed to find any malware.

Any ideas what this is and how this user account can be removed forever? What are the chances that any sensitive info on my computer has been compromised?

Does the Account have a name or some form of identification next to it? Also have you recently installed any new software?

Also are you signed up to ESET's Anti Theft Feature as this is known to cause similar issues?

Thanks,

When did you install ESET? Did this problem come up after you installed ESET?

Please create a System Restore point and then completely uninstall ESET and all its components including Smart Security. ( You may restore the system if after confirming that it is casued by ESET antitheft security and you decide to keep it.)

Check whether your phantom User account gets eliminated.

EDIT: Phill3990 was right on target.I noticed that only after posting this.
