Hi everyone. I would like to stream my tv shows I record in Media Center to the tv in my livingroom. My PC is in my bedroom. The hdtv in the bedroom has a hdmi input, but the tv in the livingroom has a rca input. Is there a way that I can stream the tv shows into the livingroom? I have been on computer for two hours trying to find a solution. I cannot afford an XBox. Any help will be appreciated. deanie44:(

Go find a cheap apple tv 1st generation for around 50 bucks. Install iTunes on your PC. Works awesome. Been doing it for years. Just get the 40gb one since you will be streaming anyways.

Apple TV can't stream recorded TV from WMC, unless I'm missing something.

Don't use WMC. Convert the video to MP4 or M4V and import into iTunes. Handbrake (free) can convert it. Fairly simple to do.

That's fine for copy-freely recordings, but copy-once and copy-never can't be converted - at least I've not seen the software that can break that encryption.

However, the OP does use WMC to record TV, so that's the constraints we must operate within.

To the OP: there really isn't a cheap extender solution that I've found. You could build a cheap HTPC that could play the copy-freely recordings from the original HTPC, but the price might be more than an XBOX.

What format is the recorded video? Chances are it can be converted. If it can be converted to MP4 or M4V, iTunes with apple tv 1st generation is the cheapest way to stream it. Otherwise, spend the higher bucks on a Xbox, roku box etc. Sony has a box that cost 49 bucks right now that supposed to work with any PC. Not sure about the connections to the tv though.

You could try a micca player or nbox for ~$25.
