Stuck desktop icon

Okay,
I have a desktop icon that was an old excel file. I deleted the file and the icon stayed. I have tried refreshing desktop, click and drag to recycle bin, archiving with zip and winrar and delete after archive, run a registry clean, check registry for file and still not able to get this thing off my desktop. Does anyone have a fix for this or is it a win 7 x64 pro bug?
