Hi all,
I'm just about ready to put a gun to my head, so I hope someone can help me. for the secoond time, I am getting the following error when I try to start windows 7:

0x0000007B, (OX80786B58, OXC0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

I have tried everything I can think of to fix this. Using windows repair option does not help. Fixing the MBR does not help. After going through the windows repair option this is what it tells me about the problem:

Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem Signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem Signature 03: unknown
Problem Signature 04: 21201077

Problem Signature 06: 3
Problem Signature 07: CorruptRegistry
OS Version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1

System restore and safe mode do not work either.

As I said, I am about to lose my mind over this one. I hope someone here can help me. Thank you all in advance.

The 0x0000007B in your BSOD means that Windows failed to read it's boot information.

This can happen for instance if you've added a new harddrive, changed boot sequence, or if the harddrive got damaged.

If it's due to harddrive damage you may still be able to fix it by running "chkdsk /r" from a Windows recovery CD (you can use a Window 7 CD, but Vista, XP or W2K will also do).

If none of the above help, review this helpful guide - especially applies to your error: STOP 0x0000007B - STOP 0x7B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE - Fix STOP Error 0x0000007B

Hi James,
Well, that did it. Thanks to your link I was able to determine it was the hard disk controller that was causing the problem. I was able to run ultimate boot disk and update/fix it from there. Wow! That one blew me away! I had no idea what was happening. I thought it might be a virus. Thank you very much for your help.

Thank you karlsnooks for your quick reply and your help.

Thanks to theog as well, for your quick response and help. This place is the best!

Thanks again.

If it helps anyone else, this is the section of JamesR404's link that told me what to do:

Update the drivers for your hard drive controller. If the drivers to your hard drive controller are outdated, incorrect, or corrupted then the STOP 0x0000007B error will likely occur.

Note: If the STOP 0x0000007B error occurs during the Windows setup process and you suspect that the reason is driver related, be sure to install the latest hard drive controller driver from the manufacturer for use during the installation of the operating system.

Note: This is a likely solution if the second hexadecimal number after the STOP code is 0xC0000034.

I was able to use UBCD for windows to do that.

Great , would you like to post instructions exactly how , for any others with the same issue?

Yes, I can do that. Here goes:

After trying everything I could think of to fix this computer, (believe me, I tried everything) I hit the f8 key on restart and selected the option to not restart after an error. Then I could see the blue screen error code and post it here.

After following JamesR404's link, I found my exact error code in the options and tried what they suggested, which was to repair the hard disk controller. The only way I could get into my hard drive was to use UBCD for Windows. I went in to the setup (F2) and made sure that the computer would boot from the CD drive first. When UBCD started to load, I selected start shell, when it came up and did not check the expert mode box. After that I just waited for it to load and followed whatever instructions were on the screen to install networking support. I don’t know if that made any difference, but what the heck.

When it finished loading I was at a desktop similar to windows. It shows all drives connected to the computer and the size on the screen. On the left side of the screen are some icons to programs that can help fix your computer.

I hit Start, then Programs, registry tools and then set target root.
Make sure you select the proper drive for your hard drive as mine was moved to D

After that, you have to hit start again; programs, registry tools and then select fix hdc

Choose the option to update mass storage drivers. (m)
Then hit enter and it will start doing what it needs to do.
When it finishes, remove the CD and restart your computer. If it worked, it will start normally again.

Hope this will help save someone a lot of time and aggravation.

Thanks to all

Don
