Student and Faculty 32-bit upgrade version to 64 bit

Hello all

I recenlty purchased a copy of Win 7 Ultimate upgrade for Student and Faculty under the Microsoft Student Select programme. Unfortunately at the time they did not specify whether it was the 32 bit or the 64-bit version and my understanding was that upgrade version included both 32 and 64 bit versions. When I received it, it was the 32-bit version only. My question is this;

1)Is there a 64-bit version of the Win 7 Ultimate upgrade for student and faculty?
2)Are the product codes interchangeable between the 32/64 bit versions (I read in a thread they were for the retail versions, was not sure this applied to Student and Faculty version)
3)How I can get a hold of the 64-bit version? As the operating of the programme says they only have the 32-bit version.

Your help is much appreciated.

You need to contact the vendor to see if they will provide 64 bit media to reinstall.

If they refuse, ask them if you are still entitled to either 32/64 as the EULA states.

If so, you can locate your own 64 bit copy of Windows 7.

All versions are unlocked in the installer by removing the ei.cfg file in Sources, then recompiling ISO using Vlite to burn to DVD.

You may want to make a Win7 backup image of your current install to fall back on if for some reason the reinstall won't activate afterwards at Computer>Properties link. It may require a robocall to MS to trade numbers to deactivate the old installation before activating the new one, although using the same hardware may not require this.

Thank your quick reply, the suppliers who were running the Microsoft Select programme for Students was of little help.

I managed to find an official version of the 64-bit Win 7, and as you said by removing the ei.cfg gives assess to the other versions.

After install 64-bit Ultimate version, my product key activated without any hitch.

So it would seem that my product key is still effective for 32/64-bit install as per other versions.

Thanks for reporting back so that others will now know that Windows 7 Upgrade purchased from Microsoft Student Select Program will activate with either 32 bit or 64 bit media (get that, Google?)
