stuttering/lock up MP4 videos

have a win 7 x64 sp1 box, no codecs. GB NIC from WMC box w/ flow enabled (tried disabled, no luck)
360 slim, plays my mt2s files great, but I have these mp4 movies that when I start them (in the videos area, as movies section locks up the 360), they play for a few seconds, then black screen, and then audio for 30 seconds or so, then that starts to stutter. Sometimes I can play it, and if I FF to 1-1.5 minutes, it sometimes works. These are my blue ray rips.

The good/bad news is I formatted a new computer added my 360 extender to WMC on there, and it has the exact same issue .. stuttering audio, and no video at all, just black.

It plays fine in VLC though.

This will display the various Codecs on your PC and you can specify a default one, try with different ones selected.

MCE compatible is a green arrow, and MP10 compatible is a red circle with a white x through it. version : 6.1.7140.0

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my previous post. In the decoder utility, select the codec with the MCE compatability green tick and then click the 'Set as Preferred' button. (if there is one that has a green tick for MP 10 and MCE, try that first) Then see if that fixes the problem.

If you have more than one that is MCE Compatible, then try each one as preffered in turn. Let us know the results
