Hi Guys
would appreciate your thoughts on a little quirk that appeared only this week. (I use Windows 7 32 bit.)

I use a number of USB devices, and up to Wednesday - if I plug in, say, a USB memory stick - this will be recognised and a display confirmation will appear in the systray (bottom right of screen). If no device is plugged in, then obviously no icon appears in the systray.

HOWEVER, suddenly when I start up my PC, an icon appears regardless of the fact that I have not plugged in any device. If I run my mouse over the icon the 'normal text' appears to say -
"Safely remove hardware and eject media". If I click on the icon both my main Sata hard drives are now listed! - whereas they have never been shown in this way before.
My other win 7 PC acts normally - any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

OK - cracked it.
earlier this week I changed from IDE to AHCI in the bios settings. Reverting back to IDE solved the 'problem'.
Hope this information is at least of use to someone.
Cheers
