Sudden shutdown "Power supply surges detected during the previous...."

This is the second time this occurs,and both times were ingame right after 2-3 minutes when launching,GTAV and now with BO2,it just went off and on with the following:

"Power supply surges detected during the previous power on.
Asus Anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit!
Press F1 to Run Setup"

What could be causing this ?

This could be caused by your household power supply suffering from a power surge, or a sudden short power outage.

Your computer PSU (Power Supply Unit) is developing a fault. If your PSU has a separate power switch, usually located at the back of the computer on the PSU, try switching of on & off a few times. Only do this with the computer shut down. Sometimes these switches lose contact through lack of use, so operating them a few times helps.

You need a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). Google Uninterruptable Power Supplies & see which ones might suit you.

Thanks for the input Ranger4,yesterday this sudden shutdown happened twice at exactly the same time(started the PC then went directly to BO2 and as soon as i joined it went off,then as soon it went on did exactly the same thing and it went off exactly at the second i joined the server) so i though about disabling the XML overclock,and when i did the shutdown did not happen,then just did a reset for the BIOS and reapplied the overclock and so far there isn't any issues,gonna give it a day or 2 if nothing happens then ill mark this thread as solved.

I did what you said regarding the PSU's button,but damn today it went off for 5 times,what i forgot to say(i actually just don't want it to be the reason)that i've bent my motherboard's cpu pins,but redid the bent ones and the PC ran fine,did a benchmark test for the CPU and the score came the same as the previous scores (even a bit better),so could this be the reason for the sudden shutdowns or ?

This is only happening when ingame. and my temps are at max 65c-70c for both CPU and GPU.

Is there a way to test my PSU ?

Yes, bent CPU pins could certainly cause your problem, but your CPU & GPU temps are certainly on the high side & that's probably a very likely cause. You should look at better cooling, either more fans or liquid cooling.

While you can do basic checks on the PSU, to see if power is getting through, it's not possible to a full load test without the necessary equipment. As the cost of PSU's is not that high, replacing it with a new one may well be cheaper that paying someone to test it.

The problem causing the shutdown has been found and fixed,it was one of my LED's,removed it and placed a new one,done poor wiring with it which caused it contacting between - and + resulting in the shutdown.

@Ranger4 appreciate the help,as for my temps i'm not sure i can do anything about it since it's the summers ,and it seems i've placed the pins just fine since CPU is running without any problems,no problems with the system at all.
