Solved Suggest me a best way to run matroska (.mkv) and .srt files on WMP 12

Hi,

I use VLC player just to play .mkv and .srt files in my PC and WMP for everything else. I really liked WMP and I don't want to use any other players.

I can install a codec pack and run mkv files, but this guy suggests NOT to install codec packs on PC.

Can anyone suggest me a good method to run mkv and srt files on WMP? or I will use the same VLC player again.

Don't install klite, it's full of stuff that's no longer compatible with win 7.
The cccp pack seems safe and it's what I've been using for several years now.
CCCP - Combined Community Codec Pack

If you have absolutely settled against a codec pack based on what you read there.
You can get just the mkv (matroska) support by downloading the matroska codec specficially.

This will however not give you srt support, though the mkv subs will show.

Even the makers of mastroska themselves suggest using the cccp pack though.
One step if you do install that pack at the end of the installation there will be a settings window.
Go to the second page of it, and check the box to enable sub support for wmp.
That should set you up.

Yeah, he's apparently dead set against codec packs for reasons beyond me.
You have to be careful picking them I agree, but to say using them at all is a danger or a failure of some sort. ...I don't agree with that.

I My problem is that the videos are waging. I had installed the Klit, but I already removed the computer.
The Haali MKV will accept and load the subtitles?
