Suggestion for upgrading to windows 8

As you all know that I have windows 7 installed on my system,my main activities are browsing science articles and programming and occasionally watch movies..

Now,my question is that will I be benifitted after upgrading to windows 8.I am fully satisfied with the features that windows 7 provides.

what would be your suggestion??

In this case, I think it would come down to personal opinion and preference. You will be able to do all of your tasks on either OS. The question is, is there something about Windows 8 that would justify the cost and time to upgrade? Only you can know the true answer to that.

Yes. As both system are capable to handle the above stuffs. I'm afraid upgrading to 8 simply fall into personal preference. I have some WRP installed on my machines but it haven't strongly convinced me into buying the incoming final release.

I'm not upgrading my "operational" and recording studio PC's.to Win 8. But, as I also do part-time PC support and I have at least one client that is upgrading to Win 8, I will install it on my "test" PC. If I get calls from clients with Win 8, I will have a system to refer to.

I've had several pre-release versions of Win 8 installed on a PC and I'm not really impressed and think this may be Microsoft's "off OS". Seems like every other one is a dud, e.g. Win 98SE was OK, Win ME was not great, XP (after updates) was OK, Vista was another dud, Win 7 has been OK.

right..Even I tried the consumer preview and I was not at all happy with it.I did not like the metro interface and removal of the start menu button..Moreover the RTM version will obviously have lots of bug which will be fixed by some updates...So Should I wait after its release and then go ahead??

For what you listed as activities, I see no benefit in upgrading. I do, however, see a downside in the purchase, the cost.

I have tried every Preview and the Eval RTM version, and I have decided not to upgrade. I am strictly a desktop user - have no use for touchy/mobile stuff. The Desktop side of Win8 is fine - and there are free and good Start Menu replacements to make up for that lack. But I, like you, am completely satisfied with Windows 7. And I think it looks better No doubt my next computer will come preinstalled with Windows 8, and I will roll with it.

If I were you, I would stick with Windows 7. If you have the disk space and inclination, you might consider getting the eval release and trying it out, just to satisfy yourself that you're doing the right thing (otherwise you'll wonder...)

But I'm sticking with Windows 7 on this rig.

So why would you even consider it ? Windows 8 is garbage, don`t waste your time. At least install it in a virtual machine b4 you try installing it over 7. Or put it on another hard drive.

You're talking about things you don't like about it, and then you are asking when you should switch to it. That's confusing.

There's no reason to feel forced into upgrading. Windows 7 isn't going anywhere.

I agree windows 8 is not a good os..I will test it on a virtual machine and then i will decide.
