I bought the eeepc 701 (4G) when it first came out, and now its been used and abused, had a load of different OSes on it, and I feel like its gathering dust at the moment.

It's still working fine, the screen is ok, wireless is fine, the ssd is still performing, I just wonder if it could be put to better use than a bookend or doorstop :p

I had a look at some projects for turning it into a digital photo frame, but the whole casemod thing was a little daunting, and I don't trust my fingers lol. Can anyone suggest anything??

I'll be willing to try anything short of ripping it open and playing with the insides...obviously I will report back any successes/epic failures for copycats/general amusement

I would use it as a websearch engine. Assuming it runs Linux, then you are not really exposed to viruses and can reserve your main system to access only the very safest sites like this forum plus all the other work.

You can use it as an entertainment center. A good sound card, maybe a TV card might do the job.
