Solved Suggestions for cubase 7 professional sound card for Asus z87pro mobo

Hi Chaps

I am looking for any suggestions for a professional soundcard for my new motherboard which is an asus z87pro. I was up until recently using an m-audio 1010lt audiocard with multiple ins and outs which i used with cubase 7. Since this card no longer fits i am looking for any alternatives which offer as much flexibility. All suggestions welcome.

I have a recording studio (I have Sonar X3 and ProTools MP9). Most do not recommend PC sound cards for recording. You are better off with a USB connected recording interface device. There are several in the under $200 US category including Focusrite (a UK company). The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 is a popular two channel unit, that will accommodate either instrument or microphones and provide outputs for speakers or headphones.

Hi there I'm looking to spend around £200 for something with a similar number of ins and outs and midi/sp/dif connectivity, as i have a growing collection of synths and guitars. I've been looking at the M-Audio Avid Fast Track Ultra which could fit the bill costing £200+ duties.

As I mentioned a USB connected device. One of my audio interface units is an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R (8 analog inputs).

I also have a Roland Octa-Capture (8 channels) which is my primary recording interface unit. They make smaller 2 and 4 channel units. I like the Octa-Capture as it has built in limiters that you can use (optional) when recording.

Indeed, it is the MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R version that I am quite keen on. yesterday i spent a few hours researching the user reviews. On the whole they seem very positive and i am inclined to wait for a used one to appear on Ebay. I also like the idea that it will just slot into my rack to save studio space. Can i ask if you have encountered any issues with yours?

AS for the Roland Octa-Capture, I shall check out what other users say their experience is.

My Fastrack Ultra 8R is my backup unit. It rarely gets used. The Roland Octa-Capture is my primary recording unit.

I've settled on theMAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R in the end, it should arrive from Ebay(USA) in about two weeks.
Thanks for your recommendation. One final question: have you encountered any issues with yours during your time with it?
