Suggestions on the AMD Llano series....

Merry Black Friday all,

I'm currently working on my system build 3.0 and I'm pretty excited for it. Mainly for my motherboard.

Which brings me to the point, has anyone tried out one of those AMD APUs? I've read some reviews that give a good recommendation for moderate gaming and a couple reviews giving it poorer reviews.

This is the motherboard in question I'm looking into that has the review for good moderate gaming. But that review says that 40 FPS at full HD is OK...

It seems like a good choice since I can pair it up with an AMD graphics card so CrossFire can be enabled. My problem is that I've been pinning for an NVIDIA since the company's slogan is, "The way games are meant to be played." That's obvious. But seriously, I want to play games that use Phyx and not just installing some files that make the system be able to play it.

I've in this pickle for a few weeks now...I need a third party, non-partisan opinion.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for.
I like the motherboard it has all the basics plus the new UEFI bios which is worth a lot more than I can explain to you here.
You don't have to do intel/nvidia or amd/ati to get the most out of either. (although it's easier to find motherboards that exclusively suggest said set ups.

I myself own both ati and nvidia cards and let me say something here. Physx is a gimmick, it doesn't nothing a modern multicore processor can't do, but nvidia saw a cute little way to get some extra attention pretending they had actually done something unique with physx. Regardless of all of that though, your only going to see the best physx performance if you actually do an SLI setup and dedicate one of the cards to physx processing.

That out of the way I would take a look at the rather short list of games in which physx makes a actual difference. Even though it's included in a lot of games the list of ones it makes a real and noticeable difference in is only about 4-8 games at most.
(2 of them being the batman arkham games)

Hmmm....
that changes things it seems. So you're basically suggesting I should stay on the AMD path, maybe do a CrossFire setup if I'd like?

It would also be less expensive than the intel/nvidia path.

At the end of the day it's your call.
I'm personally building a i7 2600k system with an amd graphics card. So I'm kind of mixing it up myself.
